About Faro’s

Faro Uccello was born and raised in Sicily, Italy, where he learned the secrets of making delicious pizza and other Italian staples. He moved to the United States in 1976 and opened his first Faro’s Pizza two years later. His commitment to creating authentic Italian recipes, using only fresh, high-quality ingredients made his pizza and other entrees an immediate hit with customers, and soon a cult following emerged. People would comment, “Oh that sauce” which gave rise to the official slogan. Faro eventually sold the franchise in the early 90s with the idea that he and his family would be moving back and living in Sicily, but only to well-vetted people to ensure that the quality would never be compromised. Faro would eventually come back to West Michigan and start the Uccellos Franchise.
Maro Piciaono, who began working at his father’s pizza shop at age 10, spent two decades in the industry that included many years working with Faro and the Uccello’s franchise when in 2019 the opportunity to purchase the esteemed 28th St location became available. Not only has Mario preserved the great legacy of Faro’s but has taken it to new heights by adding the “Grande 24” pizza and adding a new location in Wyoming in the Summer of 2023.
